The Wild Dog

The Wild Dog
I’ve sown all my wild oats, stood in the rain while it poured
And the thorns that I gave you moved you much more than the rose
You’re in love with the wild dog, the fox that was never house trained
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
There’s a mist in the morning, it clings to the river like love.
I long to stay with you, be there when you wake up
you’re in love with the rover, the man who can never be tamed
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
Im the wild dog the tomcat , the lamb that’s dressed in wolves cloths
the man tat will let you down, the dream that you can’t let go
you’re in love with the black sheep, your dreams you try to restrain
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
Im always the grass that’s greener on the far away plains
I’ve sown all my wild oats, stood in the rain while it poured
and I’d probably lose you if I ever stop playing this role

Smell the earth

Smell the earth
Don’t know what Im trying to say but it fills me with wonder
I feel al itchy on the inside
Feel Im part of some subconscious Van Gough
This is the night
And Im standing by a field that’s recently been sown
and the sky is filled with stars
I can feel the wind blow I can hear the river
trickle through the trees
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night
As blue sky turn to red these trees are flaming silhouettes
and houses light up in the distance
I feel a change inside and I am free to be a child
This is way beyond my resistance
Im crying with the wind and Im laughing with the stars
I rise with the moon to the occasion
The night surrounds me now and the daylight takes her final bow
The birds are finished singing for this evening
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night
And Im standing by a field that’s recently been sown
and the sky is filled with stars
As blue sky turn to red these trees are flaming silhouettes
The nighttime and her charms
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night
I can smell the earth I can see the jewels of the night

Those steps once were mine
I see her quite often but not as often as the rest
Never has too much to say and she’s always nicely dressed
Her skin is soft from soap and her loving grannies touch
her world is full of fairy tales ,without them there’s not much
I’v never seen her run and shout, I’v never seen her cry
Never seen her with a dirty face and I’v never heard her joy
I’v never seen her throw a punch , I’v never seen her share
Never heard her complain once , She don’t know enough to care
Know enough to care
I see her walk with mommy or with daddy in the car
buttoned up pink raincoat boots and a scarf
She shares a joke with Dolly in the backyard of her world
Dolly knows her secret thoughts Dolly knows the hurt
Dolly knows the hurt
I’v often tried to see behind the veil over her eyes
Often tried to see who she really is inside
I watch her walk uncertainly one step at a time
I know just how she’s feeling those steps once were mine
Those steps once were mine
I see her quite often but not as often as the rest
Never has too much to say and she’s always
Oh she’s always nicely dressed

Washing over me
03:45
|
|||
The sun and the sand and the sun and the sea
The wind in my face and the sound of the waves
Washing over me
The touch of your hand and the morning is mine
The touch of your hand and the memories of last night
Washing over me
The flowers and the flags and the flowers in your hair
Fountains and pools and shadows in the shade
Washing over me
Silence and freedom and silence is golden
Streets that are empty lanes that are lonely
Washing over me
The warmth of your eyes like the warmth of the sun
Your gentle perfume and the smell of the rain
Washing over me
Paintings and sculptures and memories and feelings
Dreams and the cold stone the sound of my footsteps
Washing over me
The love and the hate and the romantic balance
The pleasure the pain the tide of emotion
Washing over me
My heart in my head a quickening drum
Fear and despair a constant concerto
Washing over me
The signs in their eyes a fixed set of values
Im running inside their tunnel of vision
And their laughter and their laughter’s
Washing over me
Washing over me
Washing over me

Earthquake
03:00
|
|||
I wonder how Id feel if we had an earthquake
and I wonder what Id do if I felt the ground shake
to watch the buildings jumping and all the people running
into cracks in the ground
and I wonder what Id do
I wonder how Id feel if we had an earthquake
firemen digging in the rubble reaching for a hand shake
and frightened parents waiting the rescue team are listening
but they don’t hear a sound
and I wonder what Id do
And I wonder what Id feel if we had an earthquake
would I be a looter would it be my big break
or would I be a hero climbing to the rescue
while the cameras are on
and I wonder what Id do
I wonder what Id do if we had an earthquake
and I wonder what Id do if it came to my street
to watch my family dying while I am trapped and helpless
doesn’t bear thinking of
and I wonder what Id feel
Well I heard it on the late news from the radio by my bed
I drifted off to sleep as I listened to what the news man said
and I slept peacefully and I had pleasant dreams
Lord it’s a funny world
and I wonder what Id feel
and I wonder what Id do
and I wonder what Id feel
and I wonder what Id do
and I wonder what Id feel

Tender & Blue
04:46
|
|||
Tender and blue soft like the rain
these thing that you do are beautiful
Tender and blue eyes like the moon
you fill up my nights with dreams come true
Running like a child with outstretched arms the morning sun
reaches for my window and says the day’s begun
Down the lane by my house the fog it slips away
Slip away
Tender and blue soft like the rain
these thing that you do are beautiful
Tender and blue eyes like the moon
you fill up my nights with dreams come true
You’re the wind Im the sea you’re the see Im the shore
You’re the footsteps in the sand I’ll follow all my days
You’re the sun in the sky you’re the dew on the ground
that slips away
Tender and blue soft like the rain
these thing that you do are beautiful
Tender and blue eyes like the moon
you fill up my nights with dreams come true
Crumbling leaves beneath my feet as autumn turns to winter
Naked trees and memories beneath a frozen sun
I am running like a child the frost taps out a rhythm
That slips away
Tender and blue soft like the rain
these thing that you do are beautiful
Tender and blue eyes like the moon
you fill up my nights with dreams come true
You know I love you

Caught in the tide
04:47
|
|||
Sun beats down not a worry in the world
Lazy seaside town time on your side
There’s a radio playing and the music’s drifting out to sea
Summer atmosphere caught in the tide
And the sand on the beach is like gold dust at your feet
And the day passes by and you never really wake up
And the closest thing to work you’re going to do all day
is stretch your legs on the peer
This is summer, Oh yeah and I love it
This is summer, Oh yeah and I le le le le love it
Night comes down and the boats are coming in
Sleeping seaside town romance in the air
You walk down to the beach and you hold her hand so tightly
Summer love caught in the tide
And she’s wearing jeans and sandals and a white white T shirt
And a baggy denim jacket and her hair’s in a ponytail
And she kicks sand at you cos she knows you’re going to chase her
And she rushes into the tide
This is summer, Oh yeah and I love it
This is summer, Oh yeah and I le le le le love it
Oh shine on shine on
Oh drift by drift by
Oh last for ever
Time to come home a tear in the eye
Lazy seaside town it’s time to say your goodbyes
Yeah that song’s still playing as the bus rolls through the rain
Swear your heart was caught in the tide
Now you step down off the bus like you’ll never find another
And the way you’re feeling now well you don’t think that you’ll bother
But there’s perfume on the wind and somebody says hello
This is summer, Oh yeah and I love it
This is summer, Oh yeah and I le le le le love it
Oh shine on shine on
Oh drift by drift by
Oh last for ever
Sun beats down not a worry in the world
Lazy seaside town time on your side

Dark end of the street
04:36
|
|||
Well it nearly broke your heart when she flew out to New York
Swore she’d never come back for all that you were worth
And you would’ve settled nicely Yeah she really made you smile
Helped you stay off the beer and she helped you pass the time
And you curse the day you met her and you curse the day she left
Cursing’s the only comfort that you get
When you’re too tough to talk and you’re too weak to forget
Pint sized friend down the pub’s your only bet
And you wonder if she’ll ever come again
To the dark end of the street where the lovers often meet
You can see their shadows in the lamplight
And your footsteps lead you blindly till you find yourself alone
with a battle on your hands that you can’t fight
And you wonder if she’ll ever come again
And you know that she’ll never come again
Still you wonder if she’ll ever come again
And you know that she’ll never come again
Your answer’s in the mail you’ll have it in the morning
Details are enclosed and a cutting from the paper
And it’s going to break your heart so go out and buy strong drink
Take it home and go to bed for the week
The Tuesday morning rain taps cold against your window
like the icy fingers in her picture on the wall
It’s a frozen epitaph to the sentence you’ve been serving
Spell is broken now but the pain goes on and on
And you wonder if she’ll ever come again
To the dark end of the street where the lovers often meet
You can see their shadows in the lamplight
And your footsteps lead you blindly till you find yourself alone
with a battle on your hands that you can’t fight
And you wonder if she’ll ever come again
And you know that she’ll never come again
Still you wonder if she’ll ever come again
And you know that she’ll never come again

Scream and punch that steering wheel if it makes you feel a little better
Curse me, curse the day that I was born, that we got together
It’s a long drive home on your own
Towns fly by in bleeding monochrome
It’s a long drive home, you’ll be alone
When all you’ve got left is my grave
Cry, pull over for a while, try and get your head together
Reach out, reach out into the night and try and find some answers
It’s a long drive home on your own
Towns fly by in bleeding monochrome
It’s a long drive home, you’ll be alone
When all you’ve got left is my grave
You laugh at the madness of it all, that we had a chance to start with
Hopeless, hopeless fed on hope, the fattest lie you ever swallowed
It’s a long drive home on your own
Towns fly by in bleeding monochrome
It’s a long drive home, you’ll be alone
When all you’ve got left is my grave
